The genus begins in the first half of the 16th century. Andrey Prokofievich Okunev the voivode in Opochka (1627-1628). in the Bezhetsky Verkh (1637), in Tver (1637-1638) [1] .
The ancestor - Gavriil Afanasevich Okunev ( 1699 - 1781 ) [2] - a famous shipbuilder in his time.
The genus is included in the VI part of the genealogy books of Novgorod , Petrograd , Pskov and Tver provinces .

Emblem Description
The shield is divided horizontally into two parts, of which in the upper part, in a blue field, is depicted above the silver moon, turned horns up, the golden Cross (Polish coat of arms Shelig ) and below it the Eye. At the bottom, in a red field, two Hands emerging from the clouds are visible, clad in silver armor, holding a crosswise silver Saber and Arrow (Polish coat of arms Malaya Pogonya ).
The shield is crowned with an ordinary noble helmet with a noble crown on it and three ostrich feathers. The bastion on the shield is blue and red, lined with gold and silver. The coat of arms is included in Part 2 of the General Herbarium of the noble families of the All-Russian Empire, p. 77 [3] .

- Gavriil Afanasevich Okunev ( 1699 - 1781 ) - the founder of the clan. Major General . Famous shipbuilder . In 1746 he headed all shipbuilding in the Baltic . In 1747 a sarvare of the fleet. Since 1763 , retired with a major general appointment .
- Alexander Gavrilovich Okunev ( 1730 - 1806 ) (son of Gabriel Afanasevich). During the reign of Catherine II and Paul I, the architect and caretaker of Peterhof palaces and gardens.
- Nikolai Alexandrovich Okunev ( 1788 - 1850 ; son of Alexander Gavrilovich) - trustee of the Warsaw school district. Member of the war of 1812 and foreign campaigns. Lieutenant General (1843) [4] .
- Grigory Nikolayevich Okunev ( 1823 - 1883 ) (son of Nikolai Alexandrovich) - in 1875 - 1883 he was ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary minister in Sweden, in Stockholm . Privy Advisor and Diplomat .
