Valakhilya ( Skt. वाळखिल्य , vālakhilya IAST ) - a group of hymns in the eighth mandala of the Rig Veda .
This group includes 11 hymns (PB VIII, 49-59). They occupy a special place among other hymns of the Rig Veda, as they are a later insertion, whose text has been preserved worse than the rest of Samhita [1] . The creators of this application consider poets from the Canvas clan. Later authorship was associated with the mythological sages, dwarfs of Valakhil . The famous commentator of the Rigveda, Sayana, does not consider these hymns, although they are included in padapatha . The term “Valakhilya” itself is applied to this group of hymns, beginning with the brahmana : it can be traced in “ Aitareya ”, “ Gopatha ”, “ Kaushitaki ” and “ Panchavimsa-brahmanah ” [2] .
