History
The division was created in the autumn of 1942 from the combat group "Mikhalik" of the 22nd Panzer Division and reserves of the General Staff as part of the 2nd Army . The total number of divisions barely reached 3000 people. Initially, its units served as reserves and police units in the occupied territories. During the Soviet offensive, the division was defeated and dispersed. Its separate units fought in the 2nd German , 8th Italian , 1st and 2nd Hungarian armies near Voronezh , Voroshilovgrad , Kharkov and Donbass . By the end of the year, only 11 tanks remained in the division (another 20 of its tanks were at the headquarters of the 2nd German Army). By February 8, 1943, the ranks of the division consisted of approximately 1,590 people (only 127 officers and 35 soldiers remained in the 127th tank combat engineer battalion; 5 officers and 165 soldiers remained in the 1st battalion of the 140th tank grenadier regiment). The division was disbanded, its units went to replenish other tank divisions.
