The 2008 season became special both in the history of BATE and in all Belarusian football. This year, BATE overcame the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League and became the first club in the history of Belarusian football to manage to break into the group stage of the Champions League .

On October 31, 2008, having beaten Zhodino's “Torpedo” with a score of 2: 1, BATE became the five-time champion of Belarus two rounds before the finish of the Championship of Belarus .
In the Cup of Belarus , BATE reached the semifinals.
