Suleiman-bek Ali-Suleiman oglu Efendiyev ( azerb. Süleyman bəy Əlisüleyman oğlu Əfəndiyev ; October 5, 1864 - February 21, 1919 ) - major general , military leader of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic .

Biography
Suleiman-bey Efendiev was born on October 5, 1864 in the city of Agdam . Received general education at a gymnasium in the city of Ganja . At the end of the gymnasium in 1880, Suleiman-bey entered the Elizavetgrad cavalry school . Upon graduation, he was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to continue serving in the police.
March 15, 1899, Suleiman-bey Efendiyev was promoted to captain . In 1900 he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav of the 3rd degree. February 20, 1907 - appointed Inspector of the Police Guard of Kutaisi Province . December 6, 1912 he was awarded the rank of colonel . He served in this position until 1917 [1] .
In July 1917, by order of the Transcaucasian government , Suleiman bey arrives in Ganja . Here he founded a training team of 150 people to train instructors for the future Azerbaijani troops.
During the formation of the Muslim Corps in late 1917 - early 1918 (Separate Azerbaijan Corps [2] since June 26, 1918), Colonel S. Efendiev was appointed commander of the 5th Muslim Regiment [3] . After the creation of the ADR, he was appointed commander of the 5th Infantry Regiment (formerly the 5th Muslim). At the beginning of July 1918, the corps was disbanded and its units, together with the 5th Caucasian and 15th Chanakhgalinsky Turkish divisions arrived, became part of the newly formed Caucasian Islamic Army Nuri Pasha . Colonel Efendiyev was appointed commander of the 2nd cavalry Karabakh regiment.
On November 1, 1918, by a resolution of the Council of Ministers, the War Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan was established [4] . In December, Colonel Efendiyev was appointed Acting General for errands under the Minister of War. On December 29, by a government decree, Colonel Suleiman-bek Efendiyev “for distinction in service” was promoted to major general [5] . On January 6, 1919 he was appointed commander of the 1st Infantry Division, replacing Major General Ibrahim-Aga Usubov in this post. On February 18, Division Chief of Staff Colonel Gerashchenko told the Chief of General Staff that General Efendiyev had contracted typhus. By the order of the acting Minister of War, Lieutenant General A. Shikhlinsky , Colonel V. Sokolov entered the interim command of the division. On February 21, 1919, Major General Suleiman-bey Efendiev died.
