Biography
From 1879-1882 Theodor Aksentovich studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts . From 1882-1895 studied in Paris . After graduation, he worked as an illustrator, taking numerous trips to London and Rome , where he painted portraits. In 1895 he moved to Krakow , where he became a professor in the art school of fine arts, having worked until 1934 .
In 1897, Theodor Aksentovich founded an art school for women. In addition, he was one of the founders of the Polish art society Sztuka, which organized exhibitions, and a member of the Vienna Secession [1] . In 1910, Theodor Aksentovich became the rector of the Cracow Academy of Arts .
Theodor Aksentovich died on August 26, 1938 and was buried at the Rakovitsky cemetery in Krakow .
Creativity
Theodor Aksentovich was known as a portrait painter. In his works, he paid particular attention to scenes of ethnographic life of the Hutsuls and Polish Armenians (“Baptism of Armenia”, “Armenians in Poland”). The artist was the author of stained glass for the Armenian Cathedral in Lviv .
