Ikshvaku ( Skt. इक्ष्वाकु “ sugar cane ”) - the legendary ancient Indian king, the first ruler and founder of the Ikshvaku dynasty ( Solar dynasty ). In the texts of Hinduism, Ikshvaku is described as a righteous and glorious monarch. According to one version of the legend, he was the son of Vaivaswata Manu - one of the main characters (along with the avatar of Vishnu Matsya ) “ Matsya Purana ”. Ikshvaku was born after the flood, as a result of which the royal ship was on top of the Malay Mountains. [1] [2] Many ancient Indian kings are attributed to the Ikshwaku Solar Dynasty. Among them: Bhagiratha and the father of Rama Dasaratha .
