Biography
Born on October 14, 1914 in the village of Shinki, Trans-Baikal Region of the Russian Empire (now the Krasnochikoysky District of the Chita Region). Russian
He graduated from 7 classes and courses of forestry masters. He worked as a logging master at the Katangarsky forest site of the Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky timber industry enterprise.
In 1931-1932 he was in military service in the Red Army. Then he returned to his native village and continued to work at the timber industry farm.
In the army since October 1942 . The commander of the machine-gun platoon of the 282nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard, Lieutenant Nagaev, is a participant in the heroic defense of Stalingrad from the first to the last day. For courage he was awarded the medal “For Courage”.
Then he fought on the Oryol-Kursk Bulge. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943 . Later, at the head of 40 fighters, he was the first to force the Dnieper in the area of the village of Derievka, Onufrievsky District, Kirovograd Region. On the night of September 28, 1943, enemies noticed daredevils among the river and opened machine-gun and mortar fire. Three mines fell near the pontoon, but Nagaev organized the reflection of enemy fire with machine guns and boldly advanced to the intended landing area. In this battle, he personally destroyed up to 60 enemies. Being wounded, overcoming the pain, he continued to lead the battle and repelled 3 enemy counterattacks. After the battles for the Dnieper, already being a Hero of the Soviet Union, Senior Lieutenant Epifan Nagaev was appointed to another position. Together with scouts, he more than once carried out responsible combat missions.
He died in battle on April 6, 1944 for the railway station Migaevo of the Velikomikhaylovsky district of Odessa region [1] .

- A street in the village of Balyaga, Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky district, is named after the Hero.
- The name of the Hero is the leisure center in the village of Balyaga, Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky District.
- Station Migaevo in honor of the hero was renamed Nagaevo.
