History
The team was formed by guitarist Vaclav “Vogg” Keltika , his brother drummer Vitold “Vitek” and vocalist Wojciech “Sauron” Vosovic . The average age of the participants was 14 years old at the time the team was created. A year later, bassist Marcin “Martin” Rygel , who was 13 years old, came to them. In June 1997, the guys recorded their first demo “Cemeteral gardens”.
In October 1998, the second demo, “The Eye of Horus”, was released, which included, in addition to its own four tracks, a cover of “Slayer” - “Mandatory Suicide”. This time, more adult listeners respected the creation of the team, and the concert activity helped Decapitated to take its rightful place in the Polish underground. Recording companies have vied to offer contracts. The musicians opted for "Earache records", which also housed their idols Vader.
The debut album, “Winds of Creation”, was released in April 2000, receiving a lot of positive reviews. In support of the disc, Decapitated toured England with Lock up. In 2001, Polish deathsters traveled around Europe, accompanying Immolation.
When the average age of the team members approached twenty years, Decapitated released their second album [2] , "Nihility", released in February 2002 [3] . With this disc, which contained a Napalm Death cover, the band finally reserved their place on the Polish stage, along with Vader and Behemoth. The ensemble went on tour with Incantation, Vehemence, Dead to fall in North America and Vader, Krisiun, Prejudice in Europe.
The new studio work Decapitated was released in August 2004. “The Negation” received high marks in the press. In 2005, Sauron left the group and was replaced by Cowan, previously listed in Atrophia Red Sun.
On February 7, 2006, the fourth album, Organic Hallucinosis, was released. He is noticeably different from previous works in his technique and modern, a kind of departure from the old school.
On November 2, 2007, the drummer of the group, Vitold Keltika, tragically died. A bus of musicians traveling to a concert in Gomel (Belarus) collided with a timber carrier near the Russian-Belarusian border. Two band members, drummer Vitek and vocalist Adrian “Covan” Kovanek, were in intensive care. Martin was not with them at that time, he moved to California. They received serious skull injuries. According to unconfirmed reports, the bus driver was to blame for the accident. Vitold died in a Russian hospital from injuries resulting from the accident. He was only 23 years old.
On January 7, 2008, a charity concert was held at the Stodola Club (Stodoła), initiated by Vader leader Peter. The profit from the sale of tickets, T-shirts and CDs was aimed at helping Vitold's family and at treating Covan. Celebrities of the Polish metal scene such as Virgin Snatch, Frontside, Behemoth and Vader took part in the concert. Also, Peter’s guitar from Vader was auctioned, and the proceeds from its sale also went to the aid of the Keltik family and Covan’s treatment.
A new album, entitled Carnival Is Forever , was recorded at the "RG" studio in Gdansk , Poland . They started recording the album on February 9, 2011, and finished it on March 31.
On November 1, 2011, the group was on board the plane that made an emergency landing, no one was injured [4] .
In the fall of 2014, their sixth album, Blood Mantra, was released.
The current composition of the group: Vaclav Keltika-guitar, Rafal Piotrovsky-vocals, Pavel Pasek-bass, Mikhail Lyseyko-drums.
On September 12, 2017, the media reported that the group members were accused of gang rape of a girl who was on a tour bus with them. The incident happened on August 31, 2017 in Spokane, Washington, USA. [5]
On January 5, 2018, all charges against members of the group were dropped.
