Get the Facts is an ad campaign conducted by Microsoft to promote server-side versions of Windows . The corporation claimed the “undeniable advantages” of Windows over Linux , many of which were called into question. The key argument was the lower total cost of ownership of Windows Server 2003 compared to Linux , but independent experts noted that this statement was "far-fetched" because the cost of server hardware was incorrectly taken into account and the comparison was made with a paid distribution of Red Hat Enterprise Linux . In 2007, the campaign was announced to be terminated, but in fact it continues to this day under the name “Compare.”
