Career

Before coming to Valencia, Carboni managed to play in many Italian clubs, in particular, in Parma , Sampdoria and Roma .

He helped Valencia to reach the 2001 Champions League final , but failed to distinguish himself in the penalty shoot-out. In 2004, Carboni won the UEFA Cup . On October 23, 2005, at the age of 40, 6 months and 17 days, he became the oldest footballer to ever play in La Liga . (The previous record belonged to the Deportivo football player Donato ).

On May 19, 2006, Amedeo became the sports director of Valencia (in most Spanish clubs this role includes responsibility for signing contracts with new players).

The working relationship between him and the head coach of the club, Quique Sanchez Flores, was tense. The situation escalated to such an extent that an ultimatum was issued: only one of them had to stay on the team. On the same day, the club management made a choice in favor of the head coach. June 19, 2007 Carboni was fired. Soon after, Kike Sanchez Flores also left the team.

On June 10, 2009, Amedeo Carboni became the sports director of the Belgian club Muskron . There he joined forces with his former Valencia partner Miroslav Dzukic , who took over as head coach of the club. On November 1 of the same year, after the home defeat of his team from Liège's Standard , Miroslav Dzukic resigned; Amedeo Carboni left his post with him.

In the spring of 2010, reports appeared in the sports press that Rafa Benitez , a former Carboni coach at Valencia, intends to invite Carboni to the club’s sports director if he is appointed head coach of Turin Juventus . [2]

In June 2010, Benitez headed the Internationale ; Amedeo Carboni also entered the coaching staff of the Milan club, taking the post of technical director [3] .
