Biography

Vladimir Ivanovich Seleznev was born on August 3, 1928 in Leningrad. In 1947 he entered the first year of painting at the Faculty of Painting of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. Repin . He studied with Mikhail Platunov , Ivan Stepashkin, Peter Belousov , Yuri Neprintsev .

In 1953, Seleznev graduated from the Institute in the studio of Professor Rudolf Frentz with the qualification of an artist. Thesis - historical picture "VI Congress of the RSDLP" [2] . In the same issue as Vladimir Seleznev, the institute graduated from Valeria Larina , Nikolai Galakhov , Vladimir Andreev , Orest Betekhtin , Leonid Kabachek , Mark Klonsky, Nikolai Lomakin, Konstantin Molteninov , Georgy Pesis , Peter Smukrovich, Pavel Utkin, Solomon Epstein and other famous paintings of the future Leningrad .

Vladimir Seleznev participated in exhibitions since 1951. He painted historical and genre compositions, landscapes, portraits, still lifes. In 1949 he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Artists . Seleznev’s creativity is characterized by the use of various techniques and expressive means, the choice of which was determined by the specific tasks facing the artist. The development went towards enhancing the decorativeness and locality of color while maintaining the constructive role of the pattern. In the portrait genre, gravitated to an in-depth psychological description of the image.
