Ivan Grigorievich Savenko ( January 17, 1924 , Varvarovka - December 17, 1987 , Leningrad ) - Soviet painter, Honored Artist of the RSFSR , member of the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR [1] .

Biography

Born January 17, 1924 in the village of Varvarovka Dolinsky district in Ukraine.

In the 1930s, he studied at the secondary school of the mining village of Verkhnyaya Gubakha in the Urals, then at Kizelovsky Mining College, while attending an art studio. An important role in introducing Savenko to art was played by his acquaintance with N. Serebrennikov , the founder of the Perm Art Gallery .

After the outbreak of World War II, he worked on the restoration of defense plants evacuated to the Urals . In 1942 he was drafted into the army and sent to the tank school. At the end he was enrolled in the Guards 19th Panzer Corps . He fought on the Central , 3rd Ukrainian and 4th Ukrainian fronts [2] . On October 26, 1943, in a battle near Kakhovka he was shell-shocked and seriously wounded, his right arm was torn off by a shell [3] . He was cured in a military hospital in Saratov . Demobilized by injury. He was awarded the Order of Glory 3 degrees , the medal "For the victory over Germany . "

In 1944, Savenko entered the Saratov Art College as a volunteer, and in the fall he was admitted to the Kiev Art Institute , which he graduated with honors in 1950 from the workshop of Grigory Svetlitsky . In 1950-1954 he studied at the graduate school of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin with Alexander Gerasimov. Candidate of Art History (1954). In 1952 he was admitted to the Leningrad organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR . In 1954 he married the artist Irina Maslennikova. In 1954-1957 he worked in the creative workshop of the Academy of Arts with Alexander Gerasimov .

Participant of exhibitions since 1950. He painted landscapes, portraits, genre and thematic compositions. He made creative trips to the Middle Urals , along the Kama , Chusova rivers, to Eastern Siberia , to the Chernihiv region. He worked at the creative base of Leningrad artists in Staraya Ladoga . In 1975 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR . In 1957-1987 he was elected a delegate to the congresses of artists of the USSR and the RSFSR. Ivan Grigorievich Savenko died on December 17, 1987 in Leningrad in his sixty-fourth year of life. His works are in the Russian Museum , the Tretyakov Gallery , in museums and private collections in Russia, Japan [25] , France, the USA, Great Britain and other countries.
