Club career

Early career

Pupil of the club " Progress Niderkorn ". In his youth, he combined football classes with a mechanic. He entered the adult team of his native city only after serving in the army. However, he turned out to be a talented footballer and in 1951, at the age of 21, was first called to the Luxembourg national team . Shortly thereafter, at the end of 1951, he signed an amateur contract for 6 months with the French “Nice” .

Performances in France

Helped the club to make a gold double in 1952 (in particular, Victor scored one of his team’s goals in the French Cup final). As a result, Nuremberg lingered in the "Nice" for 9 seasons. His finest hour can be called the first quarter-final match of the European Cup 1959/1960 , in which the attacker made a hat-trick against Real Madrid . In 1960, Nuremberg signed a contract with the Sochaux club , which at the time was balancing between the two best leagues of the French championship. Season 1962/63 spent in the "Lyon" . In 1963 he returned to Nice, but because of the limit on foreigners, he did not have a game practice. In the winter of the same year, the striker went to Bastia , where he won the Corsica Cup.

Return to Luxembourg

After receiving his diploma in 1964, he returned to his homeland and spent 2 years in the Spore Luxembourg club as a playing coach.

Career in the national team

In the national team of Luxembourg made his debut in December 1951 in a match against the second national team of Belgium. As part of the national team, he participated in the Olympic Games of 1952, as well as qualifying matches for the World Championships of 1950 , 1958 and 1966 . Taking into account friendly matches, Nurenberg spent 19 games for the national team, ending his international career on September 20, 1964, with a match against Yugoslavia .

Personal life

After finishing his career, he worked at one of the casinos in Nice , and later in the same city he opened his own cafe. He was married to Paulette Pietry, had a son Patrick and a daughter.

He died on April 22, 2010.
