Cosmos-122

Cosmos-122 is the first Soviet meteorological satellite of the Meteor space system. It was launched on June 25, 1966 from platform No. 31 by the Vostok-2M launch vehicle . The satellite was designed at the All-Union Research Institute of Electromechanics. [1] It was intended for testing a system for obtaining satellite meteorological information, which received images of clouds, snow cover and ice fields on the illuminated and shadow sides of the Earth, and also measured the fluxes of outgoing radiation reflected and emitted by the Earth-atmosphere system. To transmit the image of the Earth's cloud cover to the Cosmos-122 satellite, a low-frame television system was used. He worked for 4 months [2] .
