The winner of the first ( 1981 ) and second ( 1983 ) Asian Women's Chess Championships . [one]
Participant of interzonal tournaments ( Tbilisi , 1982 , - 13-14th; Zheleznovodsk , 1985 , - 13th, Tuzla , 1987 , - 13-14th places). Participant in a number of competitions (1978-1986) as part of the Indian team.
Her two sisters, Vasanti and Jashri, also play chess.
