CEC (data bus)

Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) is a bi-directional serial bus using the industry standard AV.Link protocol for remote control of electronic devices.

Optional component of the HDMI interface; currently the bus standard is regulated by the so-called CEC Implementation Guidelines published by HDMI Licensing, LLC. HDMI-CEC technology is supported by most modern media systems (TVs, home cinemas, HTPC , etc.), but this technology is little supported on personal computers.

CEC was developed for the convenience of controlling various consumer electronics devices with a single control panel and is based on the SCART standard [1] . The connection scheme supports up to 10 devices simultaneously.

Application

CEC technology is being presented by various manufacturers for the end user under different brand names:

  • Anynet + [2] ( Samsung )
  • Aquos Link ( Sharp )
