History
The center was founded in 1994. However, the history of the teaching of the deaf goes back to 1934. Order No. 26/387 of August 25, 1934 for the General Directorate of Educational Institutions reads:
- Allow to organize an additional academic group from among those who have passed the acceptance tests of deaf and mute in the amount of 11 people.
In 1934, at the Moscow Higher Technical School. N.E.Bauman entered the Faculty of Food Engineering 11 hearing impaired. The organization of group training for people with disabilities in one of the most prestigious universities in the country became possible thanks to the assistance of the People's Commissar of Heavy Industry S. Ordzhonikidze.
The center was established on the basis of Presidential Decree of March 25, 1993 No. 394 "On measures for vocational rehabilitation and employment of disabled people."
Activities
The Center’s activities are regulated by the laws of the Russian Federation, the Model Regulation on an educational institution of higher professional education (a higher educational institution), approved by Resolution of the Council of Ministers dated 06.06.1993 No. 597, resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Russian Federation dated 02.20.1992 No. 100, legislative acts of the Russian Federation, normative acts of the State University of Russia, the Charter of MSTU. N. E. Bauman and the Regulation on the Center.
Main Activities
- Educational activities for the implementation of pre-university, university and postgraduate training programs for people with disabilities;
- Research and development activities for the development and implementation of special educational technologies, software and hardware, methodological and technical support of the educational process for the disabled;
- Training and production activities aimed at acquiring practical labor skills in selected specialties, at creating and mastering information technologies, software and hardware and audiological tools that provide training and rehabilitation for disabled people;
- After-sales service of technical training, diagnostic and rehabilitation equipment;
- Legal assistance to students in the process of their training and employment;
- International activities, directions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the system of higher professional education for the disabled;
GUIMTS MSTU them. N.E. Baumana implements special basic professional educational programs for people with disabilities and persons with disabilities (with hearing loss) of the following levels:
- Baccalaureate - 97 students (2012);
- Master's program - 2 students (2012);
- specialty - 113 students (2012).
GUIMTS conducts vocational guidance for students with disabilities of health of correctional and comprehensive schools. For people with disabilities and people with disabilities who have higher professional education, postgraduate higher education (postgraduate study) and additional professional education are possible.
Additional activities
The center carries out additional activities:
- training in courses, in circles of vocational guidance and development of creative opportunities with the sale of products according to the profile of training;
- tutoring in accordance with educational programs and state educational standards;
- organization of preparatory courses for applicants to MSTU. N.E. Bauman;
- assisting parents of deaf children and deaf parents with hearing children (psychological, pedagogical and medical advice);
- preparation, publication of didactic and methodological materials in areas related to the problem of training, vocational education and rehabilitation of hearing impaired people.
International activities
Within the framework of the PEN-international project (2001-2011), there was an active cooperation and exchange of teachers, specialists, students with universities participating in the network (Rochester Institute of Technology (USA), National Tsukuba University of Technology (Japan), Peking University (China) ), Changchun University (PRC), Zhongxian University (PRC), Tianjin University of Technology (PRC), De La Sal University (Philippines), Charles University (Czech Republic), Mahidol University (Thailand)). Memoranda of cooperation and understanding were concluded with these universities, which were then periodically extended.
Every year, a delegation of specialists and students from the National Tsukuba University of Technology (Japan) is received, with whom the closest contacts and joint projects are established.
An international competition of projects is held annually in the format of the scientific conference “Step into the Future”. The purpose of the international competition of student projects is to give impetus to the development of scientific activity of talented and gifted students and young researchers with disabilities by hearing in the field of educational and rehabilitation technologies and to give them the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of peers from other countries. The competition traditionally involves students from partner universities in Russia, the USA, Japan and China, whose work is devoted to the theme "Education" or "Assistive Technology".
The center actively cooperates with universities in the CIS countries (Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, etc.). Every year, several students from these countries go to study at the Moscow State Technical University. N.E. Bauman.
