Alexamen ( Dr. Greek Ἀλεξαμενός ) is an ancient Greek military leader. In 196 BC e. held the position of strategist of the Aetolian Union .

In 192 BC e. during the war against Nabis , when the Aetolians decided to take control of Sparta, Chalkida and Demetriad , Alexamen with a detachment of 1 thousand soldiers arrived in Sparta under the pretext of providing military assistance. However, instead of assisting, he killed the Spartan tyrant Nabis during a military review. After that, the Spartans took up arms and exterminated the Aetolian detachment to the last man.
Amid the chaos that arose, Achaean detachment under the command of Philopemen invaded Sparta, which brought Sparta under its control and forced it to join the Achaean Union .
