Beginning of a military career
In April 1926 he entered the military service as a volunteer, an ordinary in the infantry regiment. Since 1930 - non-commissioned officer, since 1935 - sergeant major. Since April 1938 - Senior Lieutenant. By the beginning of World War II - captain, commander of an infantry company.
World War II
He participated in the Polish campaign (1939), was awarded the Iron Crosses of both degrees.
He participated in the French campaign (1940), replaced the ill battalion commander.
Since June 22, 1941 - participated in the German-Soviet war. Fights in Belarus, then in the Smolensk region, in the Moscow direction. In December 1941 - awarded the Knight's Cross.
Since January 1, 1942 - Major, battalion commander of the 8th Infantry Division. Fights in the Demyansk boiler. In February 1943 - awarded the Golden German Cross.
In April-June 1943, he was trained at the courses of regimental commanders, again on the Eastern Front, as commander of the grenadier regiment of the 383rd Infantry Division (in the Orel region, on the northern front of the Kursk Bulge). Since September 1943 - lieutenant colonel.
Since March 1944 - Colonel. In June 1944, the Soviet operation Bagration (offensive in Belarus) began. Juttner’s regiment ended up in the Bobruisk cauldron, but managed to travel 700 kilometers to the west in a month and a half with battles and heavy losses and connect with German troops in the Augustow area. In October 1944, Colonel Juttner was awarded Oak leaves to the Knight's Cross, and was appointed commander of the grenadier regiment of the new 62nd People’s Grenadier Division (on the Western Front).
In December 1944 - in the Ardennes offensive. In February 1945, a retreat beyond the Rhine. From March 10, 1945 - Colonel Juttner commands the 62nd People’s Grenadier Division , April 5, 1945 - awarded with Swords (No. 141) to the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves, April 17, 1945 - taken with American prisoners.
After the war
In 1947 he was released from American captivity.
