Biography

In 1938 - 1948 he studied at the Paris Conservatory , including with Nadia Boulanger and Olivier Messiane . Since 1949 he worked in the experimental studio of French radio and TV, where, together with Pierre Schaeffer, he was engaged in specific music . The first and most famous fruit of their collaboration is “Symphony for one person” [2] [3] ( French Symphonie pour un homme seul , 1950 ) [4] . In 1958 he left the group of specific music, and two years later he founded the first private electronic music studio in France, in 1982 - another similar studio.

Creativity

All Henry's works are created by converting and editing sounds recorded on tape. Among his most famous works are ballets for the troupe of Maurice Bejar , including Orpheus ( 1958 ), Journey ( 1962 , according to the Tibetan Book of the Dead ), Variations for the door and sigh ( 1963 ), Nizhinsky, the clown of God "( 1971 ). Henry also created many phonograms for films, theatrical performances, radio shows, and art installations.

Henri's "Psyché Rock" inspired the musical theme of the animated series Futurama [5] .
