Biography
Fabian’s great-grandfather - Bulgarian Dimitar Stoyanov - migrated to Uruguay in 1912 , fleeing the Balkan War . He opened the bread production in Montevideo, changed his name to the more familiar Spanish-language ear Demetrio Estoynoff, and married Uruguay. They had a son, Jorge and grandson Raul, father of Fabian. Raul married a Uruguayan of Italian descent, which subsequently allowed their son to obtain Italian citizenship so as not to fall under restrictions for non-citizens of the European Union .
Fabian started playing football in Montevideo, as a child, his idols were the legends of Peñarol and the national team of Uruguay - Juan Schiaffino and Alcides Gija , and of the current players he preferred Hristo Stoichkov .
Estostanoff is a graduate of the Phoenix, in which he made his debut in the game of the Second Division in 2000 . Then he played in the elite division, and in the 2002/2003 season he was leased to the country's most titled club - Peñaroli, where he managed to become the champion of Uruguay. After this victory, foreign clubs became actively interested in him - first of all, the Ajax Amsterdam and UNAM Pumas from Mexico City . But unexpectedly for all, Fabian decided to return from the lease and finish the contract with Phoenix.
In 2005, Estostanoff was acquired by the Spanish Valencia, but he did not play a single match for Bats, having spent the next 3 seasons on lease - at Cadiz, Deportivo from La Coruña, Valladolid and Peñarole in 2008 . At the end of the contract with Valencia, Estostanoff moved to the Greek Panionios, which also featured his compatriot Alvaro Recoba . In 2011, on loan, he played for Peñarol, helped the Uruguayan grand get into the final of the Libertadores Cup for the first time in 24 years (and 23 for Uruguayan teams in general).
As part of the Uruguayan national team, Fabian Estoyanoff made his debut while still being a Phoenix player in 2001 . He played at the America's Cup that year, playing 2 matches - against Mexico and Honduras . In 2002, Estoyanoff was not called up to the national team at all, thus missing the World Cup in Japan and Korea . But from 2003 to 2007, Fabian regularly called in Celeste, participated in the qualifying games for the World Cup 2006 , the America's Cups 2004 and 2007 . At the end of the last tournament, he was no longer called to the national team.
