Dol-de-Bretagne ( French Dol-de-Bretagne - a commune in the north-west of France , is located in the Brittany region, department of ΠΠ»Ρle and Vileyne , district of Saint-Malo , the center of the canton of the same name. It is located 26 km southeast of Sen "Little and 55 km north of Rennes . The national highway N176 passes through the territory of the commune. The city has a railway station Dol de Brittany of the Rennes-Saint-Malo and Lison-Lamballe lines.

History
Founded by the Celts, Dol de Brittany in the VI century becomes the center of the Diocese of Dol , one of the oldest in Brittany. Saint Samson of Dolsky , the first bishop of Dole, is one of the seven holy founders of Brittany , and here he is buried. Since the Middle Ages, Dole has been part of the Trois Brace , a pilgrimage trip to the burial sites of all seven holy founders. Here in 848, the Breton national hero and the first Duke of Nominoe were anointed to the kingdom.
In the 10th century, Olaf Laghman , Olaf Haraldsson and other Vikings ruled the seashore near Dol . the fight against their predatory raids was led, among others, by Alain Curve Beard . In the XI century, the city was repeatedly besieged by the Norman dukes, including William the Conqueror . During the Hundred Years War, the city ββwas burned by the British.
The population of the city enthusiastically welcomed the Great French Revolution , and since 1795 marks the main revolutionary holidays - the anniversary of the execution of King Louis XVI with the swearing of hatred to the king and anarchy, as well as the anniversary of the founding of the Republic. The local cathedral during the Revolution was turned into a stable.
