Fundamentals of socio-psychological theory

"Fundamentals of socio-psychological theory" - the main and most famous work of B. D. Parygin . A monograph published in 1971 (M .: Thought - 352 pp., 20,000 copies), which was based on the author’s earlier book, Social Psychology as a Science (1965).

In this work, the concept of key problems of social psychology , primarily personality and human communication, was formulated and presented. The book examines the methodological foundations of socio-psychological theory, its origins, structure, functions , philosophical aspects . In particular, the place of the psychological factor in the structure of social relations and social consciousness. An original concept of personality has been developed. Much attention is paid to the problems of socio-psychological communication, in connection with which it analyzes: the structure of communication, the relationship between the concepts of "communication and community", "communication and social relations", the most important mechanisms of communication (infection, persuasion, imitation , fashion , etc.) .

The book had a great resonance in the scientific environment of the USSR and abroad, which was reflected in published articles and reviews. The monograph has been reprinted several times. The most famous reprints came out: Germany ( Cologne , 1975 , 1982 ; Berlin , 1975 , 1976 ); Japan ( Tokyo , 1977 ).

“I think that my publications and, above all, my main work, Fundamentals of Socio-Psychological Theory, to some extent influenced the development trends in this area, both in Russian and in foreign social psychology. The monograph “Fundamentals of Socio-Psychological Theory”, published in Russia in 1971, was quite reasonably called the largest expert in this field by psychologist Alexei Alekseevich Leontyev the first serious monograph on the problems of communication in the psychological sphere. The significance of its influence on foreign social psychology is also confirmed by the fact that this monograph has become a bestseller for several years (from 1974 until 1982), has been reprinted several times in Germany and Japan (in the series “Outstanding Works of Foreign World Literature” “).

Foreign social psychology, perhaps more than Russian psychology, explores the interaction of the interests of an individual and the interests of large corporations fighting for markets. Such a subdominant, which is perceived as the core of all being, on the scale of society, it seems to me, is an alternative to the microenvironment. In this situation, the media act as a manipulative force. This problem has also attracted my attention in recent years. I agree in my vision of these issues with the approach of the outstanding German sociologist and philosopher Jürgen Habermas , the author of the well-known theory of communicative action, proposed by him in the early 80s of the last century. He also saw the center of the problem of communication in society at the junction between the macro and microenvironment to the extent that the degree of technological readiness for the efficient development of natural resources and markets decides the fate of the energy potential and development prospects of any society ” [1] .

Introduction

The relevance of posing and developing questions of socio-psychological theory and its conceptual apparatus, in addition to the very course of development of this branch of scientific knowledge, is also determined by a number of factors.

Firstly, the expansion of the front of empirical and experimental research both in this and in the neighboring branches of scientific knowledge. The constantly accumulated factual material requires not only its professional description, but also a strictly scientific explanation.

Secondly, the fact that the process of differentiating the socio-psychological research itself, and at the same time the specialization of researchers in the study of increasingly local phenomena, makes the problem of the language of science or, essentially the same thing, the problem of sociability, communication, communication and understanding between scientists.

The growing importance of linguistic communication in sociopsychological science is also explained by the fact that representatives of other related sciences ( philosophy , sociology , psychology , history , psychiatry , pedagogy , forensic science , linguistics) have been more and more actively involved in the orbit of this branch of knowledge recently. and many other branches of knowledge), which consider various socio-psychological phenomena, using their specific terminology .

Thirdly, the importance of developing a socio-psychological theory is determined by the importance of the prospects for its further practical application in various areas of social relations, for example, industry, ideological activity, the public education system and other areas. However, the possibilities and scale, as well as the effectiveness of the practical application of social psychology, are determined, first of all, by the professional level of its conceptual and instrumental apparatus, the degree of development of its most important theoretical problems. They are, first of all, the problem of personality , which includes the whole range of issues related to the determination of the socio-psychological nature, structure, functioning and development of the individual in the context of the social environment and especially human relations. Among these problems is the problem of socio-psychological communication, which involves determining the place and role of this factor in social life, its structure, functioning mechanisms and development trends, both in modern society and in the near future.

The need to focus the efforts of researchers on the development of theoretical problems of social psychology is dictated, finally, by the increasingly obvious tendency to integrate, that is, to unite the efforts of various groups of specialists around the largest problems. This already corresponds to the first experience of specialized symposia that have taken place recently in a number of cities of the country: on the problem of personality ( Moscow , 1969 ), on the problems of communication ( Leningrad , 1970, and Minsk , 1970). Held in the summer of 1970 in Tbilisi, the International Colloquium on Social Psychology also convincingly demonstrated the importance of integrated programs in the future development of socio-psychological theory.

The present work, of course, does not purport to exhaustively cover the theoretical problems of social psychology. Its task is, first of all, to outline the contours of possible approaches to constructing the foundations of a socio-psychological theory, in order of first approximation. Of course, this work implements only one of the possible approaches to building a socio-psychological concept. It summarizes the experience and results of the problem laboratory of socio-psychological research, existing at the Department of Philosophy of Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute.
