Eristalinae (lat.) - a subfamily of short-headed dipterans from the family of beetles ( Syrphidae ). Larvae of most species feed on rotting vegetation in humid areas, sometimes in shallow water ^[1] . A typical genus of the subfamily is the bee ( Eristalis ). One of the most famous species is the common bee ( Eristalis tenax ), whose larvae rarely parasitize humans, causing myiasis .
