Linux User Group , LUG (from the English Linux User Group ) is a non-profit, informal association of users of Linux operating systems. The main goals of a user group are most often mutual support and software exchange.
Typically, groups are created on a territorial basis, for example, the Moscow Linux user group or the North Caucasus Linux user group , as well as on educational or other grounds, such as the MIREA UNIX User Group .

Primary Activity
The main activity of the group is concentrated on the mailing list or on social networks. Many communities have their own web page where official news and community activities are published. Group members periodically organize meetings and seminars. Often users within a group distribute GNU / Linux operating system distributions .
Linux Installfest
Installfest ( English installation - installation; English festival - festival) is an event usually organized by Linux user groups or universities , where users gather to jointly install operating systems or software on their computers . One of the Linux distributions , with a set of free software, most often acts as the installed operating system.

In general, the format of a typical Installfest is aimed at building a community. Beginners come with their computers and copies of the operating systems that they would like to install, and more experienced users help them in resolving issues. LoCo
LoCo (Local Community) is a type of LUG, with a specific focus on supporting the Linux distribution Ubuntu and Ubuntu Community .
LoCo is created with the active participation of Canonical Ltd. but independently of her. Managed by an elected Ubuntu Community Council . The documents of LoCo separately indicate the need for support for LUG, the need for interaction with LUG.
LoCo have narrower tasks than LUG, more formalized rules of work and strive to obtain official status. Officially recognized LoCo have standard resources.
