Merodon (lat.) - a genus of fly flies from the subfamily Eristalinae . Representatives of the genus imitate bees and bumblebees. This is the second most common genus of beetles common in Europe, where their number exceeds 50 species.

Distribution
They inhabit the Palaearctic and Afrotropics . Most species are concentrated in the Mediterranean , and are also found in Europe .
Ecology
Larvae feed on bulbs or on the rhizome of monocotyledons .
