Biography
David Strathairn was born in San Francisco , California , in the family of a physician [1] . His paternal grandfather, Thomas Scott Strathairn, was a Scottish national, born in Crieff , while his paternal grandmother, Ley, was a Hawaiian [2] [3] . Strathairn attended Redwood High School in Larkspur, California and graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts in 1970. He studied hypocrisy in Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in Venice ( Florida ) [4] and even worked as a clown for a while at a road circus.
He is married to nurse Logan Goodman Strathairn. They live in Puccci, New York . They have two sons: Tei (born in 1980) and Abberley. Tay - actor and jazz pianist; played in the films of John Sales “ Eight out of the game ” (as Bucky) and “Sheriff's Star” (as Jena) [4] [5] . Ebberli, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , works as an architect .
Film and television
David Strathairn was nominated for an Oscar for his role as a CBS journalist Edward R. Marrow in the biopic Goodnight and Good Luck , which tells the story of Marou’s confrontation with Senator Joseph McCarthy , who led the commission to identify Americans who could work with by the communists in the 1950s. For this role, he was awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actor at the 2005 Venice Film Festival , as well as a nomination for the Golden Globe Award, BAFTA and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor in 2006.
His other notable film roles include Harrison Lloyd in the film Rescue Harrison (2000), Erwin Emory in Tihushniki (1992), Joe St. George in Dolores Clayborn (1995), Theseus , Duke of Athens, the 1999 film Midsummer Night's Dream ; and the baseball player Eddie Cicotta in the film Eight Out of the Game (1988).
