Content
Formation
Formed in October 1941 in the Moscow Military District as part of the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th combat engineer brigades. Army headquarters was located in Yaroslavl .
Since February 1942, under the subordination of the Moscow defense zone, together with the 35th, 36th and 37th brigades of the 1st combat engineer army, she worked on the Mozhaisk defense line to build fortified areas on the outskirts of Moscow .
In March - April 1942, the 5th and 7th brigades of the army were disbanded; in September - the 4th and 6th brigades, and the army department was transformed into the 34th department of defensive construction.
Engineering
Army troops built defenses at the Poshekhonye – Rybinsk – Gorky – Cheboksary line , as well as the Ivanovo defensive line .
