Bolshoi Tashtyp is a river in the central part of the Abakan ridge , a right tributary of the Tashtyp river, which forms at the confluence with the Maly Tashtyp river ( Abakan river basin).

Length - 45 km. It flows through the territory of the Tashtyp district along the western border of the Republic of Khakassia . The catchment borders the basin of the Small Tashtyp and Kabyrza rivers ( Kemerovo region ). The basin stretches from northwest to southeast. Overgrowth of the pool is about 55%. The source is located on the southeastern slope of Kopche , the mouth is 11 km northwest of the village Upper Tashtyp . The absolute height of the source is approx. 1100 m, mouth - 563 m.
It has about 45 tributaries of different lengths, in the main. rights. Largest: pp. Nepakha (8 km), Kharasug (8 km), Nahul (10 km). The river has a mountainous flow character and resp. water mode: long spring-summer flood; summer floods, of which a longer (up to 20 days) is associated with intense snowmelt, and several short-term (up to 7 per season) - with periods of summer rains; summer-autumn and winter low water. Wed multi-year runoff module is 15l / s-km². The total mineralization of water is up to 200-250 mg / l, calcium-bicarbonate. There are no settlements in the basin. Ichthyofauna : grayling , taimen , lenok , burbot .
