Ad liberum

“Ad Liberum” is a non-state authored theater in Petrozavodsk , Republic of Karelia . Organized in 2010 by a group of artists, liquidated in 2006 by the State Russian Drama Theater of the Republic of Karelia .

History

The Ad Liberum theater has been conducting its creative history since 1906, the time when the first theater opened in the People’s House of Petrozavodsk.

State Russian Drama Theater of the Republic of Karelia

“Theater of 1000 Days”

On May 16, 2006, the building of the Russian Drama Theater of the Republic of Karelia was closed for major repairs. The drama and musical theater of the Republic of Karelia have united under the conditional name “Theater of 1000 Days” (one thousand days allotted according to the plan for the repair of the building). The performances were held on the stage of the hotel "Masks".

Drama troupe of the Musical Theater

On June 8, 2009, the theater building on Kirov Square was opened after major overhaul. By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Karelia, the drama troupe was deprived of the title of theater, the Russian Drama Theater of the Republic of Karelia legally ceased to exist. In the building, the Musical Theater of the Republic of Karelia continued its work, the staff of which included a drama troupe, which continued its work on the stage of the Maski Hotel.

In December 2009, the Small Stage at the hotel was closed due to non-compliance with fire safety requirements. The drama troupe continued its work on the stage of the Karelian College of Culture and Arts in Petrozavodsk. April 20, 2010 drama troupe was dismissed from the Musical Theater to reduce the staff in full.

Non-State Authors Theater "Ad Liberum"

On April 20, 2010, the non-state author's theater of the Republic of Karelia “Ad Liberum” was registered; on May 14, 2010, a solemn opening of the theater took place at the Expocentre (building of the former House of Culture of the Onega Tractor Plant). The first performance was the comedy M. Mayo and M. Enneken “My wife is a liar!”.

Since the second half of 2010, the theater ground has been in the building of the Petrozavodsk Music School No. 1 named after Helmer Sinisalo on Oktyabrsky Avenue, 11.

In December 2010, the theater won the main prize - the Grand Prix - at the XVII International Theater Festival "Christmas Parade - 2010", presenting the tragicomedy S. Beckett "Waiting for Godot" directed by Snezhana Savelyeva.

On September 28, 2012, as part of the All-Russian Theater Forum, the festival of festivals “At the Golden Gate” in Vladimir, the theater presented the play “Waiting for Godot” by S. Beckett, receiving a specially instituted prize of the festival jury.
