Biography
Kirill Vasilyevich was born in 1918 in the village of Savran of the Podolsk province in the family of a Ukrainian peasant.
In 1939 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army , while serving in the Navy, he graduated from the electromechanical school of the Black Sea Fleet training squad.
Since 1941 he took part in the Great Patriotic War on the Voroshilov cruiser, the Bodry and Frunze squadrons of the Black Sea Fleet.
In May 1943 he was appointed deputy commander of an air defense platoon of the 384th battalion of marines of the Black Sea Fleet, and in the autumn of the same year took part in amphibious operations for the liberation of Taganrog , Mariupol and Osipenko .
In the second half of March 1944, he joined the landing group under the command of Senior Lieutenant Konstantin Fedorovich Olshansky . The task of the landing was to facilitate the frontal attack of the Soviet troops during the liberation of the city of Nikolaev , which was part of the Odessa operation . After disembarking in the seaport of Nikolaev, the detachment repulsed 18 enemy attacks within two days, destroying about 700 Nazis.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 20, 1945, for the exemplary performance of combat missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism displayed by the foreman of the 2nd article, Kirill Vasilyevich Bochkovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union [3] .
KV Bochkovich was the only member of the paratroopers who took part in the liberation of the city of Nikolaev, who was not wounded and was immediately able to continue to participate in the war, returning to the 384th Marine Battalion.
On August 24, 1944, in the area of the village of Zhebryainy ( Kiliya district, Odessa region ), Kirill Vasilyevich was killed during a landing operation [4] . Buried in Odessa .
