Outland (film)

Hollywood stuntman Roy Walker was injured after an unsuccessful stunt on the bridge, and his legs were taken away. He lies in the hospital and from nothing to do composes a fairy tale for the little girl Alexandria.

Cutthroat The black thug, the escaped African slave Ott Beng, the Indian, the Italian revolutionary Luigi and the naturalist Charles Darwin are the heroes of his tale.

Roy beloved girl refused, she preferred to meet with another actor, so Roy's only desire is to take a lethal dose of morphine and commit suicide.

Roy, experiencing mental and physical torment, makes the heroes of his fairy tale cruelly suffer.

At first, the little girl Alexandria was a dumb witness and listener of the tale Roy told her, but gradually she began to influence the story and the author more and more.

At the end of the film, Roy - the Robber in the mask has a difficult choice: either surrender and perish or fight, survive and get on his feet. After a long internal struggle and not without the help of Alexandria, Roy chooses life, and the story, which threatened to turn into a tragedy, regains the features of a children's fairy tale with a happy ending.

• In one of the scenes of the film, the main character, upon leaving the hospital, discovers on the wall an image of a horse constructed by the light passing through the keyhole of the door, which served as a pinhole camera . The same optical-light technique is found in Andrei Tarkovsky ’s feature film Andrei Rublev
• Director Tarsem Singh admitted that while working on the creation of Outland, he was inspired by the Bulgarian film Yo-ho-ho ( 1981 , directed by Zako Heskiya )
