Sychkovo ( Belorussian. Sychkava ) [2] - a village within the Sychkovo village council of the Bobruisk district of the Mogilev region of the Republic of Belarus .

Geographical position

Located 8 km northwest of Bobruisk on the highway Bobruisk - Minsk .

History

The village has been known since the 17th century . In 1615, Sychkovo was transferred to the possession of the Bobruisk Catholic plebania . In 1782 there was an inn in the village.

In 1793 , in accordance with the second section of the Commonwealth, the village became part of Russia .

Since 1795, the village was part of the Bobruisk district of the Minsk province. In 1847, there were 26 courtyards and 183 inhabitants in the village; it itself was part of the landowner estate Palace. In 1858, annexed to the state estate Panyushkovichi. In 1885, the village had 33 courtyards and 180 inhabitants. According to the 1897 census, Sychkovo (aka Panyushkovichi) - a village, 59 courtyards and 435 inhabitants, there were a bread store and a wine shop. According to the census of 1917, there were 101 yards in the village, 614 people lived.

In 1919-1920, a partisan department was organized in the village, which fought with the occupying forces. February 25, 1919 in the estate Panyushkovichi created an agricultural community.

On August 20, 1924, Sychkovo became the center of the village council. In 1925, a large plot of former landowner land was attached to Sychkovo, at the same time the Molniya oil cooperative was organized here. In 1926, the village had 155 yards and 752 inhabitants, a village school and a circle worked. In the 1930s, an adult literacy school operated here. In 1933, the Progress brick artel was founded in Sychkovo, and in 1934 , the Krasnoye Sychkovo collective farm.

In the summer of 1941, the village was occupied by German troops, from which it was liberated on June 27, 1944, by the 399th Infantry Division. During World War II , 78 villagers died.

Memorial Complex

In 1986, a memorial complex was erected in Sychkovo in honor of the soldiers of the 1st Belorussian Front and the partisans of the Bobruisk district, who in June 1944 destroyed the Bobruisk part of Army Group Center.

Initially, the complex was a Mound of Glory (it was poured back in 1967, it was based on capsules with earth from 70 mass graves located in the Bobruisk district [3] ) a four-meter sculpture on an 18-meter pedestal and six steles in honor of the Heroes Soviet Union - natives of the Bobruisk district. In the 2000s , new monuments were added - the Gates of Glory along the Bobruisk-Minsk highway, 13 memorial plaques in honor of the Heroes of the Soviet Union - natives of the Bobruisk district, as well as those who distinguished themselves in the Bobruisk operation and died the brave here.

The village also has a bunker monument, erected in memory of the repetition of the feat of Alexander Matrosov, commander of the rifle department, senior sergeant M. G. Seleznev . The school, park and central street of the village are named after him. The hero is buried in a mass grave in which the remains of another 231 warriors rest. [4] .

Museum

In Sychkovo is located the Bobruisk District Museum of History and Local Lore, founded in 1990 .

Currently, the museum has 3 exhibition and 2 exhibition halls, in which you can find out the history of the Bobruisk region from ancient times to modern times. Archaeological finds found on the territory of the Bobruisk district are exhibited here, an exposition is presented in the ethnographic hall telling about the life and traditions of the Belarusian village of the late XIX – early XX centuries , rich material from the period of the Great Patriotic War was collected [5] .
