Sir Arthur Alexander Foulkes ( born Sir Arthur Alexander Foulkes , born May 11, 1928 ) is the Governor-General of the Bahamas in 2010-2014 .

In 1962 - 1967, Arthur Foulkes, a journalist by profession, was the chief editor of the Bahamian Times, and in 1967 he was first elected to the House of Assembly from the Progressive Liberal Party of Prime Minister Linden Pindling and became Minister of Communications and Tourism in his government. In 1971, Foulks co-founded the conservative Free National Movement and represented him in the lower house until 1992, with a break in 1972 - 1982 , when he was appointed for two terms as a member of the Senate.
In 1992, Foulkes was appointed High Commissioner of the country in the UK and concurrently Ambassador to France , Germany , Italy , Belgium , as well as the country's representative to the European Union and the Commonwealth of Nations . In 1999, Foulkes returned to the Bahamas and became a formal ambassador to China and Cuba , but remained at home. Since 2007, Foulkes has headed the Bahamas Information Services.
After the resignation of the country 's Governor-General Arthur Dion Hannah Foulkes in 2010, he became his successor.
