History

The company Zhivodan was founded by brothers Leon and Xavier Zhivodan in Vernier , which in the vicinity of Geneva , as a perfume company in 1895 , although some parts of the modern company originated in 1796 . In the 1960s, the company entered the business of food flavors, keeping up with the times and changes in the style of food, when fast food became more and more popular.

Leon Zhivodan

In 1963, Zhivodan was acquired by Hoffmann – La Roche Corporation, and in 1964, Hoffmann-La Roche acquired one of the competitors of Zivodan - Roure . Both companies existed independently before the reorganization of 1991 , when the structure of Givaudan-Roure was formed. Also in 1991, the company absorbed Fritzsche, Dodge and Olcott [3] , an American manufacturer of fragrances and fragrances, which began in the late 1700s.

In 1997, Zhivodan acquired another Tastemaker "fragrance house" headquartered in Cincinnati , Ohio , thus becoming the world's largest fragrance producer. Zhoudan's facilities in Cincinnati became for the company its head office for the entire North American region.

In 2000, Givaudan-Roure separated from its parent company, returned to its original name “Zivodan” and was nominated on the Swiss Exchange (Code GIVN.VX) [4] , being part of the SLI index [5] (Swiss Leader Index) [6] .

In 1992, Zhivodan acquired FIS, the Nestlé aromatic division.

On November 22, 2006, the company announced the purchase of Quest International [7] , which was completed in the first quarter of 2007 . On February 21, 2007, the deal was approved by the European Commission , and the US authorities approved the deal a month earlier. The transaction was completed on March 2, 2007 [8] , becoming the largest transaction in the entire history of the global industry of taste and aroma. Thanks to this acquisition, Zhivodan has become a world leader in both segments of its activities - food flavors and perfume compositions.

The acquisition of Quest International allowed Livestock to make a leap in its financial performance - increasing its turnover by 42% - from 2.909 million Swiss francs to 4.132 million in 2007. [9]
