Kalkuni ( Latvian. Kalkūni ) - the microdistrict of the city of Daugavpils ( Latvia ). It is located separately from the main territory of the city, about a hundred meters south of Niederkun . It borders on the Kalkun and Lauces parishes of the Daugavpils region . [1] [2]

Content
History
The beginning of the district was given by the estate of Kalkuna. In the middle of the XIX century , the Petersburg-Warsaw Railway passed here , on which the Kalkuny railway station was built in 1862 (renamed the Griva station in 1921), and the Libavo-Romensky railway section was opened in 1873 . v. Kalkuny-Radziviliki (see Daugavpils railway junction ). Brick and distillery operated.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Kazan merchant V. A. Karyakin owned Kalkuns [3] .
After the war, the estate opened an orphanage, orphanage. In Soviet times, the distillery, the base of the Latpotrebsoyuz, agricultural machinery, and agricultural chemical industry worked.
Modernity
From Mane you can get on the street. Komunala, there are buses No. 6 and 7 (the first, before reaching the railway crossing, turns off to Niederkuni).
