Artapov, Alexander Osipovich

Alexander Osipovich Artapov (1800 or 1803 [1] —1870) - Russian military leader, major general (1857), participant in the suppression of the Polish uprising of 1830-1831 .

The son of a state adviser Osip Sevastyanovich Artapov.

On September 20, 1817, Artapov entered the Institute of the Corps of Railway Engineers , and on May 5, 1819, he was released as ensign . On October 19, 1821, he was promoted to second lieutenant with a determination in the Corps of Railway Engineers and assigned to work on the construction of bridges and pipes on the Moscow highway near St. Petersburg . February 13, 1823 he was fired for illness from service.

By the Highest Order of November 26 of the same year, Artapov was again assigned to serve in the Orenburg Ulan Regiment .

July 16, 1825 transferred to the Life Guards Ulan Regiment with a cornet . In this regiment, Artapov successively received the ranks of lieutenant (January 29, 1827) and the staff captain (January 28, 1830).

With the beginning of the uprising in Poland in 1830, Artapov entered the Kingdom of Poland , distinguished himself on May 5 in the battle at the villages of Zakhi and Yakats; then he was in the cover of the retreat of the guards corps against the army of Skrzynetsky . On May 14, in the general battle of Ostroleka, Artapov was in several attacks under fierce card and gunfire, for which he was mercifully awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with a bow; then he fought on July 9 and 10 at Punsk and Ratsionzhi, from July 15 to 24 he was sent on a separate expedition to pursue the Gelgud detachment, on August 25 and 26 was in a general two-day assault on the city of Warsaw, and on 27 entered a parade in the Polish capital.

January 28, 1835 promoted to captain . On March 30, 1841, Artapov was appointed an official for special assignments to the Kazan military governor, Adjutant Strekalov, with enrollment in the cavalry and production as colonel (04.15.1842). December 4, 1843 for the immaculate length of service for 25 years in officer ranks he was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree.

Produced on April 17, 1857 as Major General Artapov in July 1861, resigned. He died on May 13, 1870 in St. Petersburg , was buried in the Smolensk Orthodox cemetery .
