The main temple of the monastery of the Introduction of the Virgin was built by the despot Djurgi Brankovic in 1434 . The monastery was also destroyed and burned during the Second World War , after the occupation of Kosovo by Albanian and Italian troops. The monastery was rebuilt after the war in 1947 .

The monastery has preserved frescoes of the XV century . In addition to the image of St. Ioannikius the Maiden in the clothes of a great chemist with an inscription on the fresco “the first clerk of this place”, the face of St. Akaki , the subjects “Wedding in Cana of Galilee” and “Healing of the Relaxed” were preserved. In addition to this layer, there is a second layer of frescoes of the XVI century and the third of the XIX . The monastery had its own land estates, vineyards , houses and shops , mills , hotels , a bakery , a dairy - only 60 hectares of land and 250 hectares of forests.

The monastery was desecrated after the end of the Kosovo war and the withdrawal of Serbian troops from the territory of the region. After that, the French forces of KFOR arrived in the monastery area. However, this did not prevent the Albanian militias from the KLA from June 12 to June 14, 1999 to desecrate and rob the monastery. In the monastery there were nuns with the confessor Father Seraphim who all these three days were subjected to physical and moral humiliation [1] .

The monastery underwent new attacks by Albanians in 2004 during the riots in Kosovo . On March 18, 2004, the Danish contingent KFOR evacuated the nuns. After which the monastery was looted and set on fire [1] .

With the introduction of Russian troops in Kosovo in 1999, until the withdrawal in 2001, the monastery was guarded by paratroopers of the 14th Tactical Group. This period was the calmest and safest for the ministers and walls of the monastery.
