Biography

He began his political career in 1980/1981 as the head of the student Solidarity.

In 1987 he became president of the Gdansk conservative club of political thought to them. Lech Bondkovsky.

In 1989, he was one of the co-founders of the Congress of Liberals association.

In 1990 - a member of the Republican coalition, in 1992 - joined the Conservative Party of Poland.

In 1991, he graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of Gdansk.

In 1990-1996 - Voivode of Gdansk Voivodeship, resigned after a series of protests of local trade unions.

In 1997—2001 - Member of the Polish Sejm and Marshal of the Sejm.

In 2001, together with Donald Tusk and Andrzej Olekhovsky, he was one of the co-founders of the Civic Platform party.

In 2001–2005 - Member of the Sejm. In 2003, he quit the party due to personal circumstances, while remaining an independent deputy.

In 2005—2007 - Member and Vice-Marshal of the Polish Senate.

Since 2007, he has been a deputy of the Polish Sejm from the Law and Justice Party .

Since 2008 - Chairman of the Association "Vspulnot Polish" .

He tragically died in Russia in a plane crash during the crash of a Tu-154 aircraft near the city of Smolensk .
