Gigantic goat dwellers inhabit forests and open wooded areas in Central and South America, as well as the Antilles. There is no pronounced sexual dimorphism between the sexes. During the day, they rest directly on stumps or broken branches and, thanks to their brown striped or spotted plumage, look like an integral part of their sitting position. Gigantic goats are active at night and like flycatchers throw insects from a branch down. The female lays one spotted egg, the nesting site is the upper side of the stump.
