Among Pinocchio's most famous illustrators were Roberto Innocenti and Libico Maraia ( 1955 ). His other popular metamorphoses can be seen in the cartoon of Walt Disney, as well as in the film Roberto Benigni. The peculiarity of this character was that he increased the length of his nose whenever he lied. In the Tuscan dialect, "Pinocchio" means "pine nut".

The first translation into Russian by Camille Danini edited by S. I. Yaroslavtsev was published in 1906 in the journal " Sincere Word " (No. 1, pp. 14-16). The full translation was made by Emanuel Kazakevich (first published in 1959).

Imitations

Illustration of Carlo Collodi , 1916.
  • In essence, the imitation of the work of Carlo Collodi is the tale of Alexei Tolstoy "The Golden Key, or The Adventures of Pinocchio " (1936). From "Pinocchio" taken as the main and secondary characters (not all), and also borrowed some plot lines. Tolstoy himself claimed that at first he began to translate the original fairy tale from Italian, while still in exile (1923-1924). In 1934, already in the USSR, he continued work on translation, and then, radically reworking the plot and adding characters and parallels taken from other fairy tales, in 1936 he published this new independent work with a different name under his name [1] . The book of Alexei Tolstoy is known in many countries of the world.
  • “The Adventures of Zöpfel Kern” ( German: Zäpfel Kerns Abenteuer ) is a book by German writer Otto Julius Birbaum and another adaptation of the tale by Carlo Collodi. This composition is now almost forgotten even in Germany and is hardly noticeable against the background of the original.
  • An allusion to the Land of Entertainment in the book “The Adventures of Pinocchio” is Joyland in the animated film “The Pilot in a Colorful Costume ” (1933, from the series “ Silly Symphonies ”).
