Andrei Petrovich Smirnov (born February 21, 1960 , Leningrad ) is a Russian trombonist , soloist of the large symphony orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater , honored artist of the Russian Federation (2001) [1] . In the late 1970s, together with trumpeters Alexander Berenson and Oleg Vasilyev, he played in the brass section of the Leningrad jazz-rock band Lesnoy Prospect [2] [3] .

Biography
Andrei Smirnov graduated from the Musorgsky School of Music in 1981 , and then the Leningrad Conservatory in 1987 in the class of Professor Victor Sumerkin . Since 1981, he has been an artist [4] of the orchestra (currently a soloist [5] ) of the symphony orchestra of the Kirov Opera and Ballet Theater (later the Mariinsky Theater) . Andrei Smirnov is also a member of the brass quintet and the brass ensemble of the Mariinsky Theater [6] .
