Biography

The representative of the ancient family of Eden . Born on June 24, 1923 in the village of Zayachevskaya of the Totemsky district of the Vologda province (now Ustyansky district of the Arkhangelsk region ). Russian. He spent his childhood and youth in the village of Shangaly ( Ustyansky district ), where in 1940 he graduated from 9 classes of a school. He worked as an elementary school teacher in the village of Kochkurga ( Ustyansky District ).

In the army since January 1942. In 1943 he graduated from the Borisov Military Engineering School (in the city of Arkhangelsk ).

Member of the Great Patriotic War : in April 1943-May 1945 - platoon commander, company commander of the 56th separate engineer and combat engineer battalion. Until June 1944, he fought on the South-Western (from October 1943 - 3rd Ukrainian ) front. He participated in the Donbass operation of 1943 , the Nikopol-Krivorozh , Bereznegovato-Snigirev and Odessa offensive operations. On July 27, 1943, he was slightly wounded in his left hand during the battles at the Izyum bridgehead.

Since December 1944, he fought on the 1st Ukrainian Front . In January-February 1945 he participated in the Sandomierz-Silesian and Lower Silesian offensive operations. He distinguished himself in battles during the breakthrough of enemy defenses north-west of the city of Breslau (now the city of Wroclaw , Poland ). On February 4, 1945, he skillfully organized the transport of soldiers and equipment to the left bank of the Oder River in the area of ​​the settlement of Leibusdorf (now the city of Lyubenzh, 45 km north-west of the city of Wroclaw), which ensured the success of the general offensive of the Soviet troops. In March-early May 1945 he participated in the liquidation of the enemy’s encircled group in the area of ​​the city of Breslau.

For courage and heroism shown in battles, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 10, 1945, Senior Lieutenant Edemsky Alexander Kornilovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 6523).

Until 1950, he continued to serve in the engineering troops (in the Voronezh and Moscow military districts). In 1956 he graduated from the Military Engineering Academy . In 1956-1959 - engineer of the 49th Rifle (motorized rifle) division, in 1959-1965 - engineer of the 31st Army Corps (in the Transcaucasian Military District ). In 1967 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff . He was the chief of the engineering forces of the 8th Guards Army (in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany ). Since August 1971, he has been a senior lecturer in the Department of Tactics of Engineering Troops and Engineering Support for Combat and Operation of the Military Engineering Academy .

He lived in Moscow . He died on October 4, 1971. He was buried at the Nikolo-Arkhangelsk cemetery in Moscow.
