Seal of the Devil

The beginning of the XVIII century, Austria. The city witch hunter Albino is illiterate, so he does not bother to conduct investigations - people accused of him are immediately subjected to executions, including burning. But then Lord Cumberland arrives in the city with his disciple Earl Christian von Meruh. Now the process of hunting for witches moves to a higher level. One day, Albino brings to court the beloved Christian innkeeper Vanessa.

Since the suspected women are in no hurry to confess to the links attributed to them with the Devil, they are actively tortured, as a result of which they are ready to confirm anything. Persevering can tear out the tongue. However, sometimes conflicts arise between witch hunters. So Albino once tries to rape one of the pretty townspeople, while his henchmen kill her lover. This is reported to Cumberland, who demands that Albino be called to account. For its part, the local hunter first tries to negotiate with the influential lord about the division of money and women received in the process of their craft. And when Cumberland sharply refuses, Albino accuses him of impotence. And then the enraged lord kills him, moreover, in front of the eyes of his young student.

Both the young baron, who refuses to transfer his property to the church, and wealthy townspeople entertaining their children with puppet dolls, and the girl who claims to have been raped by the bishop and conceived from him become victims of the witch hunt ... What Christian constantly sees in the dungeons makes him to doubt the correctness of his teacher. He requires Cumberland to report on his actions and even helps Vanessa escape. Then the lord orders the arrest of his disciple. Meanwhile, Vanessa persuades the townspeople to crack down on the witch hunter. The rebellious mob captures the castle of the Inquisition and brutally cracked down on the people of the Lord. However, Cumberland himself manages to escape. The repentant Christian, angry citizens grab and hang in the vicinity of the city - on the mountain of inconsolable Vanessa.
