Geography
Mamanuta Islands are a group of islands located in the Pacific Ocean northwest of the island of Viti Levu . From the point of view of geology , the largest islands are of volcanic origin, so the surface on them is quite uneven. At the same time, most of the smaller islands are of coral origin. The largest island of the archipelago is Malolo . The climate on the islands is tropical .
Geographically, the archipelago can be divided into two parts: Mamanuta-i-Ra (leeward islands) and Mamanuta-i-Take (windward islands). [1] The archipelago includes the following islands:

History
The British explorer William Bly became the European discoverer of the islands, who opened the archipelago in 1789 , shortly after the rebellion on the famous ship Bounty . In 1794, a ship sailed past the nearby Yasawa Islands under the command of Captain Baber. He, presumably, discovered part of the islands of Mamanut. [2] In 1799, Captain Bentley discovered the island of Malolo . Nevertheless, the first explorer of the archipelago was the American explorer Charles Wilkes , who visited it in July 1840 . At the same time, the islanders were extremely hostile to the strangers, killing two team members. [2]
On the island of Monurica , one of the islands of the archipelago, the shooting of the film "Outcast" with the participation of Tom Hanks took place .
On the island of Malolo Lailai, there is a runway.
Population
Settlements are available only on the islands of Malolo and Mana. Nevertheless, most of the islands of the archipelago support tourism infrastructure, which is why the islands are a major tourist center of Fiji . [3]
