The project was initiated by Eric Wulfson, one of the creators and contributors to The Alan Parsons Project . Wulfson wanted to create his own music project, different from APP . He invited musicians who had participated in the Alan Parsons Project in the past: David Paton, Ian Byrson (both Pilot ), Stuart Elliot and Colin Blanstone ( The Zombies ), who, in turn, invited Peter Bardens ( Camel ) to the band. What is surprising - it was Alan Parsons who was invited to the producers of the first album, he also became a sound engineer. The authors of all the songs were the musicians themselves, who in their work focused on the work of The Alan Parsons Project .
Although the musicians were united by the fact that they participated in the APP , many were not familiar with each other. For example, they did not know Blanstone, since Parsons always recorded the soloist separately from the backing vocalist. With the beginning of work in the studio, Keats members were faced with personal disagreements. In addition, many of them had their own musical career, and were not ready to sacrifice it for Keats . The internal divisions between Paton, Byrson and Elliot, on the one hand, and Blanstone and Bardens, on the other, as well as the group's commercial setbacks, led Keats to break up in just eight months.
