S. Soninbayar was born in 1952 in the Gov-Ugtaal somon of the Central Gobi aimag of Mongolia. After graduating from a ten-year school in 1970, he entered the State Pedagogical Institute , however, after studying for six months, he was forced to return home due to poor health. In 1973, having recovered, he came to the capital’s monastery Gandantegchenlin , but on the advice of the rector and fellow countryman Lama Badam, a student of the emchi Khaidavzhunaya, he was restored at the institute, where he received good historical and philological training. After graduating from the institute, in 1979 he became a "free lama" ( Mong. Sul Lam ) at the Buddhist Institute of Gandan; in 1981 - as a librarian, and in 1985 - as an institute teacher. In 1989, in order to become a lama , he went to study tsanid at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics in Dharamsala ( India ).
Has a Buddhist degree of gabju , as well as a doctorate in historical sciences .
He is currently in the leadership of the Mongolian Association of Buddhists .
