National flag of the Republic of Djibouti - coined by Mohamud Harby, the national flag of Djibouti was officially approved on June 27, 1977 , the day that the country gained independence from French rule.

Flag Symbols

The colors of the flag represent the sea and sky (blue), the earth (green) and the world (white). Green and blue are also the colors of the two main population groups - Afar and Pesa ( Djibouti tribes). The red star is a memory of the struggle for independence and a symbol of unity [1] .
