Western Highlands ( Western Highlands , Eng. Western Highlands Province ) - the province of Papua New Guinea . The administrative center is Mount Hagen . One of the most populous provinces. Tea and coffee are grown in the western part of the province. The highest mountain of Papua New Guinea, Wilhelm , is located on the Western Highlands.

In July 2009, a law on territorial-administrative reform was issued in 2012 . On May 17, 2012, two new provinces of Hela and Jivaka were created . They are separated respectively from the provinces of Southern Highlands and Western Highlands. The districts of Jimi, Wagi, and Kambia were separated from the Western Highlands, and the new province of Jivak was formed from them.
